About RLCWS

The objectives of the Revival of Lepcha Culture and Welfare Society (RLCWS) are multifaceted, with the overarching goal of preserving and revitalizing the rich heritage of the Lepcha community. Firstly, RLCWS aims to revive and propagate the use of the Lepcha language not only among the Lepcha population but also beyond the community. By promoting the Lepcha language, RLCWS seeks to ensure its survival for generations to come and foster a deeper understanding of Lepcha culture among both Lepcha and non-Lepcha individuals.

The larger aim is to preserve, raise awareness about, and bolster the Lepcha ethos in today’s globalized market driven age. The RLCWS over the last year has organized many national and international webinars where a range of speakers, from tribal leaders to international linguists and scholars to folk artists across the globe, have presented on the different key aspects of the Lepcha tribe.
